Recently I went for a walk around downtown Sevierville on a Tuesday afternoon. We had run low on coffee so I had first went to the Little River Coffee Company in Townsend to restock on their Honey-washed coffee. First stop in Sevierville was for $2 oysters at Pinchey’s on Court Avenue. Ordered a dozen oysters and a cup of their excellent clam chowder. Great service from the staff!

Ice Cream

Now it was time for my first visit to Red’s Soda Fountain and Ice Cream, just a short walk north on Court Avenue past the Courthouse. Red’s is a 1940s themed soda fountain and ice cream parlor. They have hand-mixed soda phosphates, delectable milkshakes, rich malts, custom sundaes, and a massive banana split! I opted for a butterscotch sundae, which was excellent. While chatting with the staff I learned that they both live along Boyds Creek Highway, had seen the B&B, and were intrigued by the name! Some of their food items come from Seasons 101, a very good restaurant just a block away.

Florist

On the way to Reds I passed a couple of other interesting establishments along Court Avenue. First up is a very charming establishment called “D Garden“, a florist and interior design business at 128 Court Avenue. it is located in a former hardware store and the original cabinetry, with a multitude of drawers of all sizes, is still in place along with the floor to ceiling ladders on rollers. From their website,

“The sound of gentle, trickling water accompanied by the fragrant scent of fresh wildflowers holds you in a tight embrace. Instantly, you’re bombarded with bold colors, contrasting shapes, lines, and remarkable compositions. A piece of art no doubt, only different and interactive. Almost like a forest, it seems to beckon you to explore it.”

I was definitely captivated! Planning a return visit with Deb in the near future!

Pizza & pasta

Second stop was DO Pizza and Pasta on the corner of Court Avenue and Bruce Street. Recent guests stumbled across them on the first night of their soft-opening, and reported that it was very good. I stopped in and talked a bit with the owner/manager. I plan to visit soon with Deb to try things out.

Dolly

On the opposite side of the street is the Sevier County Courthouse, with a statue of Dolly Parton on the northeast lawn.

Healthy Eating

My last stop was at Healthy Balance Meals, at 313 Court Avenue. Definite emphasis on healthy with a menu mostly based on turkey, chicken, and lean cuts of beef or ham. There are also a nice selection of salads and a few veggie options. Online ordering is available, or call in. Full menus on their website.
